95 Points- Antonio Galloni, Vinous

The 2013 Syrah Williamson-Doré Vineyard is shaping up to be a real beauty. Deep, powerful and structured, the 2013 possesses superb depth, with plenty of dark, varietal Syrah fruit and enough intensity to drink well for many years. Next to the sturdier Tinaquaic Syrah, the Williamson-Doré is a bit richer and sweeter through the middle. Both wines are superb and full of potential. The 2013 is 100% Syrah.

94 Points - Wine Enthusiast

"A mind bending array of aromas come to play in this bottling by Winemaker Billy Wathen, with savory tones of crushed pepper, teriyaki, fresh but underripe berry fruit, piquant forest underbrush, wet chaparral and raw lamb gaminess. It’s surprisingly light and lithe on the lovely palate, with black peppercorn, thyme, lavender and complex beef-stew notes." Editors’ Choice. —M.K.

91-93 Points - Wine Advocate

"Made from 100% Syrah that was aged 20 months in 30% new French and Hungarian oak puncheons, the inky colored 2013 Syrah Williamson-Doré Vineyard exhibits terrific notes of plums, blackberries, smoked earth, olive and assorted meatiness. Medium to full-bodied, focused, elegant and with awesome purity, it will certainly be an outstanding wine that will have a decade or more of longevity. I continue to be blown away by this estate, which is run by Dick Dore and Bill Wathen, with Bill taking the helm of the winemaking and viticulture.

It should be approachable on release and keep through 2024.

"Foxen's 2013 Cuvée Jeanne Marie Williamson-Doré Vineyard, a Grenache/Syrah blend is open, pliant and, not surprisingly, quite a bit more expressive than the Syrahs. Sweet red cherry, kirsch, hard candy and wild flowers abound in a wine that should drink well pretty much upon release."

"An interesting blend of 83% Syrah and a massive 17% Viognier that spent 20 months in 15% new French and Hungarian oak, it has tons of peach and violet characteristics (no doubt from the Viognier) to go with more plum, underbrush and dark fruit on the nose. Beautiful on the palate, with a supple, downright sexy feel, it's currently dominated by the Viognier component and it will be interesting to see how this comes together. I suspect it will impress right from the get go."

"Balanced and well-focused, with raspberry and smoky beef aromas and lively, complex flavors of black cherry, grilled herb and pepper. Drink now through 2026."
